Classmate interview Essay

Cover letter

In this essay, I investigated the “New Yorker” subculture by interviewing a participant and taking notes as a foundation for my research. Although I wasn’t a full outsider when I wrote this essay, outsiders were the target audience. The entire interview process was quite entertaining, and I was able to expand my expertise and learn many new things from my partner. Interviewing someone from a different perspective and subculture was done in order to obtain insight. Positive and educational consequences are what I hope this will have on the reader. I’ve never written an essay like this, therefore my method for it felt like I had freedom to gather as much information as I want . As a result, I had to adopt an unconventional strategy for the essay. I researched about her subculture before to come up with some questions to help me understand more. I had to make judgments on, among other things, the interview’s questions. I discovered something about myself: I did a fantastic job interviewing my interviewee because I knew how to ask questions and follow-up questions to gain a more comprehensive response.

Introduction

My interview partner for this was Sulenny Peralta, and before we started, I was a little hesitant because my original partner couldn’t make it, so I felt unprepared for the task at hand. However, as the interview went on, I was able to gain more insight into her subcultures and what she identified as, which was a Community Server, New Yorker, Collector, and Reader. Even though the interview started off a little rocky, it progressed without any problems. We were able to have an interesting talk because Sulenny felt comfortable enough to provide a wealth of knowledge when I asked her questions.

Interview

In the interview, Sulenny seemed eager for the interview and by her tone she was focused on the task at hand. In her essay, she mentioned that reading makes her relaxed and that I was interested in making a 2-part question for her since I like to read as well. I asked her to go more in depth about her reading activities, Sulenny stated that it helps with her English, and she circled word’s that she didn’t know since English wasn’t her strongest language during the time and it eases stress and tunes her out from the world in that moment, reading a real book instead of vegging out in front of a screen before bed promotes relaxation more. Even though I didn’t add Reading to my subculture it is amazing to find another person who likes to read and the individual who values the genre that he or she is reading. It may be simpler for you to relate to others if you lose yourself in a good book. Particularly literary fiction has the capacity to enable readers to read the emotions of others and comprehend what they are thinking, which makes you think on a critical level.

Furthermore, in the interview, I proceed to ask her “As mentioned in the essay, you said you received opportunities in New York, what type of opportunities did New York give you?” Sulenny replies about the opportunity she has living in New York, which links back to the fact that she is an organization ambassador, a job that is enormous and demands mental fortitude and great responsibility. She has exposed herself to the city and has worked tirelessly to be where she is now. New York has served as her shelter for possibilities and future discoveries throughout these accomplishments. She also goes into more detail about her volunteer work as an organization ambassador. A person who takes the initiative to unite individuals and build a more vibrant community is known as an organization ambassador. They can successfully promote their own neighborhood and make a good first impression. They can encounter unanticipated events and challenges, which might be easier to manage if they are adaptive and can remain composed in an unfamiliar setting. She acquired the ability to speak various languages via her volunteer work, which allowed her to help individuals who didn’t speak English. She joined other groups to establish fundraisers for folks who weren’t financially stable to buy goods or food that they had never touched. Sulenny managed to organize these fundraisers in part by enlisting the aid of affluent people who freely contributed funds and helped raise awareness. Over time, it also assisted her in developing relationships with people from all around. I’ve also benefited greatly by being in New York, participating in art programs to showcase some of my artwork, having family members with contacts who can get me a job or help me put together a resume, and simply growing up to be a young man in society. Overall, I enjoyed speaking with her. She provided me with further information about her subculture and how devoted she is to it.

Conclusion

Interviewing “Sulenny” revealed that she is an approachable individual who enjoys discovering new things. Her identity is influenced by each of her subcultures, and she benefits from all of them in different ways. The simplest way to sum up her positive life experiences is to say that she is a caring person who uses her abilities to assist others. To get understanding, it was necessary to interview someone with a different viewpoint and subculture. I hope that this will make an impact on the reader in a positive and instructive way. I want them to have a new appreciation for this subculture as well as a new comprehension of it.
